Video over IP for Handhelds
Mobile TV is currently a topic of highest interest for consumer electronics
and mobile communication. Within the research project "ISyP - Integrated
System Concepts for DVB-H Playouts" a DVB-H live streaming system has been
developed. The system typically reduces the total bit rate demand of
multiple programs within a DVB-H multiplex by about 40% through statistical
multiplex.
A complete DVB-H broadcast and mobile reception chain has been demonstrated
during mbb 2006. Seven TV programs have been real-time encoded with dynamic
bitrate allocation and broadcast to a handheld device using dynamical
time-slicing.
The research project ISyP has been carried out in co-operation with Rohde &
Schwarz FTK and has been funded by the Innovations Fund of Investitionsbank
Berlin.
